Shown below are the classes I am teaching for the 2026 Spring semester
An introductory darkroom class! Capture light and motion on film using SLR cameras. Bring your own camera or use a Crafts Center loaner. You will process your exposed film and spend the remainder of this class camped out in the darkroom exploring the traditional B & W printing process. Class fee includes film, photographic paper and chemistry used during class.
Section A: Saturday, January 24: 1:00 – 3:30pm & Thursdays [4 weeks] January 29 – February 19: 6:30 – 9:30pm
Section B: Fridays [5 weeks] March 27 – April 24: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Digital Photography: Getting Started
The digital camera… so much capability that so few people fully comprehend! From learning the various camera controls to exercising the options of how and when they are best used, in this nuts-and-bolts class you will gain the confidence needed to capture that perfect instant. Learn to use your own digital camera or use one of the Crafts Center’s Nikon D3000 loaners to get the most out of this series of hands-on discussions and photo shoots. Bring your own SD card.
Section A: Mondays [4 weeks] January 26 – February 16: 6:30 – 8:30pm
Section C: Mondays [4 weeks] February 23 – March 23 (skip Mar. 16): 6:30 – 8:30pm

Discover the real magic of darkroom printing! In this class, you will expand upon your darkroom printing knowledge by manipulating light through the use of multiple advanced darkroom techniques, producing creative and stunning images! These techniques include dodging, burning, contrast filters, split grade printing, and alternative processes. You are expected to bring your own negatives to class to experiment with. The class registration fee includes all photographic paper and chemistry used during the four week session.
Thursdays [4 weeks] April 2 – 23: 6:30 – 9:30pm
Class fees by level: NC State Students – $80 Public – $140
Capture light and color on film with an SLR camera; using your own or with a Crafts Center loaner. This workshop begins with an on-campus photo walk followed by two sessions in the darkroom! You will shoot a roll of color film, learn to process color stocks, and how to best print your color negatives on black and white paper. All supplies included.
Saturday, April 4: 1:00 – 3:30pm
Tuesdays [2 weeks] April 7 – 14: 6:30 – 9:30pm
Class fees by level: NC State Students – $80 Public – $120
This is a beginning level class – darkroom experience is helpful but not required! You will shoot 120 film using a modern Holga or retro Kodak Hawkeye Brownie. This class will also cover basic darkroom functions, procedures, and chemistry. All supplies included.
